Precisely Cookie Notice

September 1, 2024

This Precisely Cookie Notice (“Cookie Notice”) is issued on behalf of Precisely Software Incorporated and where applicable, those Affiliates included from time to time in our list of  Legal Entities (“Precisely”). This Cookie Notice supplements Precisely’s Global Privacy Notice. This Cookie Notice applies to Precisely in its role as a “Controller,” as defined in the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation or “GDPR” and explains how we use cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website www.precisely.com, affiliated websites, and our web applications (the “Sites”). It explains what these technologies are and why we use them, as well as your rights to control our use of them. The definitions used in capital letters have the same meaning as in Precisely’s Global Privacy Notice.

We and service providers, partners, or other third parties we engage may use cookies, web beacons, tracking pixels and other similar technologies to understand the usage of the Services, improve our content, conduct analytics, and deliver advertisements in which you might be interested (as described in our Cookie List). Such ads and personalized content may appear on our Site and/or across other domains and may be based on your activities across Sites and applications and over time. Some of our third-party partners process your Personal Data (e.g., your IP address) for their own purposes, which may include sharing that information for targeted advertising purposes. In such cases, those third-parties’ further use of your Personal Data is governed by those entities’ respective privacy policies. Where required by applicable law, we rely on your consent in providing you with advertisements that may be of interest to you.   The information on first-party cookies we use can be found in our Cookie List. Our Sites use both session cookies and persistent cookies. A session cookie disappears after you close your browser. A persistent cookie remains after you close your browser and may be accessed every time you use our Sites.

We may use cookies and other tracking technologies in a variety of ways. These uses include, for example, to:

  • enable us to provide our Services to you;
  • provide us with information about which portions of our Services are the most popular by enabling us to see what portions of the Services users visit and how long they spend on different pages;
  • personalize your experience (e.g., to save your password in password-protected areas, or to tailor content, or product and service offerings);
  • conduct analytics and provide us with information to improve our Services;
  • engage in online and targeted advertising; and
  • provide support services and resolve issues which you may experience with our Services.

What are cookies?

A cookie is a small piece of data (text file) that a Site – when visited by a user – asks your browser to store on your device in order to remember information about you, such as your language preference or login information. Those cookies are set by us and called first-party cookies. We also use third-party cookies – which are cookies from a domain different than the domain of the Site you are visiting – for our advertising and marketing efforts.

Why do we use cookies?

We use first-party and third-party cookies for several reasons. Some of our first-party cookies are required for technical reasons in order for our Sites to operate, and we refer to these as “essential” or “strictly necessary” cookies. Other first and third-party cookies also enable us to tailor the interests of our users to enhance the experience on our Sites.  Third parties also serve cookies through our Sites for advertising, analytics and other purposes.  This is described in more detail below.

The types of first and third-party cookies served through our Sites and the purposes they perform are described below. Please note that the specific cookies served may vary depending on the specific Site you visit. You can find details of the particular cookies that are served on each Site, and of any parties serving third party cookies, as well as adjust your preferences, by clicking on the “Cookie Settings” link on the applicable Site. Alternatively, Site visitors can also use their browser settings to control how cookies are set on their devices. However, blocking some types of cookies may impact your experience of the Sites and impair the Services we are able to offer. You can find more detailed information about how to control cookies later in this Cookie Notice.

We use four types of cookies on this Site:

  • “Strictly necessary” cookies, which are first-party cookies that must be set to allow us to deliver the Site to you and to provide specific Services that you request from us. These cookies are necessary for the Sites to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually only set in response to actions made by you which amount to a request for Services, such as visiting our Sites, setting your privacy preferences, logging in or filling in forms.  Some Services offered by our Sites require additional specific cookies in order to function, for example: account log-in, shopping basket/online store, billing and comments/blog features. You can set your browser to block or alert you about these cookies, but some parts of the site will not then work.
  • “Performance” cookies, which are first-party cookies that help us to collect information about how visitors use our Sites and helps us with analysis and improvements of the Sites.  Performance cookies will remain on your computer after you close your browser. If you opt-out of, or do not allow, these cookies (as applicable), we will not know when you have visited our Sites and will not be able to monitor its performance.
  • “Functional” cookies, which allow our Sites to remember your choices or preferences, such as information on online forms or previous orders. These cookies enable you to move around our Sites and use its features such as accessing secure areas (e.g. content for registered users). These cookies allow us to offer you a personalized experience while using the Sites. They are not used to track your browsing activity on other websites. They may be set by us or by third party providers whose Services we have added to our pages. If you do not allow these cookies, then some or all of these Services may not function properly.
  • “Targeting” cookies, which are third party cookies set through our Sites by our advertising partners. They are used by those companies to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant adverts on other websites. If you do not allow these cookies, you will still experience advertising, but it may not be relevant to you.

We place Strictly necessary cookies in order to provide you with a tele media services or other equivalent information society service expressly requested by you. The subsequent processing of Strictly necessary cookies is based on our legitimate interest to provide you with a technically optimized, user-friendly and appropriate website, or your consent (as applicable). We use other Cookies only with your consent. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw your consent at any time, e.g. by managing your Cookie Settings as set out below.
